Live from BLB Asia Desk: BLB attorneys at Economic Pilot Zone opening in Guiyang, Guizhou

A delegation of BLB Law Firm, in partnership with Huashang Law Firm, attended the two-day opening of "Cross Boarder Investment and Trade Fair" in Guiyang, Guizhou (China).

The event, organized in collaboration by Bank of China and the local government of Guizhou, had the goal of presenting internationally the opening of the new Economy Pilot Zone of Guiyang, which, in the Chinese central government programs, is about to become one of the most important economic areas of the Country. The numbers of the project, as usually happens when it comes to China, are jaw-dropping.

The so-called Guiyang New Area, which is the area where the industrial park will be created, together with all the other facilities connected with it, will include 1,745 square kilometers, with more than 470 square kilometers entirely occupied by buildings. Total investments for the construction of the area amount to 180 billion RMB, of which 100 already paid. Foreign investments amount to over 28 billion RMB. The goal of the project is to transform a predominantly rural vocation zone, in one of the most advanced outposts of industry. In fact, if the purely urban projects are undoubtedly significant (600 km road circuit, 900 km of aqueducts and sewers, 100 natural parks, etc.), perhaps are even more relevant in the industrial initiatives, with nine different areas which will be dedicated to special spaces and investments, including: Big data (perhaps the most important sector, with over 140 projects approved with giants such as Qualcomm, Foxcomm, Microsoft, IBM, China Mobile, Huawei, etc.), Big Healthy, tourism, industrial machines, intensive agriculture, engineering materials, recycling, green energy.

The final design should find complete fulfillment by 2018, and there is no doubt that the initiative will bring the expected success, thanks to a specific tax reduction campaign that will benefit companies bringing their factories in Guiyang New Area.
